My First Market

Last year around November I completed my first market in Lisbon. Having previously lived in Anjos, a borough of Lisbon, I was familiar with Anjos70, a cool and arty collective.

At the beginning of every month, they hold a market which includes vintage clothes, jewellery, plants, food and artwork as well as other crafted goods. I chose Anjos70 because it’s one of the few indoor markets and I knew that other artists also sell there. It also has an informal vibe which I quite like. Not only that the whole thing only cost €25 to join which meant I was risking fairly little.

The hardest part was presenting the work. It took me a while to source stands for my prints and scrunchies.

In the end, I didn’t really make very many sales but I got more ideas for future markets. Essentially I’d like to really work on the presentation next time.
